People walking along a brightly lit street in Japan at night

I'm Ben. Since 2020 I've been building cities that could exist — first in Cities: Skylines, now in Cities: Skylines II.

01 · About me

Hi, I'm Ben.

I'm Ben, a city builder from Munich. I started this channel in 2020 — not with a city, but in the map editor, recreating real Japanese terrain and street maps for the JAPAN series.

Then came the long builds: Westfield, Springdale, Verville and Springvalley in Cities: Skylines, and from launch week onwards Oakside, Fair Banks, Shiroku, Takaoka, Cedarpoint and Horizon Springs in Cities: Skylines II. The tutorials made along the way — 81 Tiles, Realistic Population, map overlays, highway signs — are still how most people find the channel.

What I enjoy most isn't the skyline. It's the moment a junction stops jamming, a station starts pulling people out of their cars, or a district finally looks like somewhere you could actually live. Japanese cities do that better than anywhere: rail first, density around stations, narrow streets and mixed use. That's why the relaunch is built around them.

Away from the game I've worked in digital marketing for more than twenty years — search, SEO and, lately, GEO: how content gets found by AI search. It's also why every video now gets a written page here, so the knowledge stays findable, not just watchable.

How I build

  1. 01Stations firstA district starts with how people get there. Roads come second.
  2. 02Fix, then explainEvery tutorial opens with the solution. The theory follows for those who want it.
  3. 03Show the numbersBefore-and-after traffic and transit stats, so you can judge a change yourself.
  4. 04Credit the makersMods, assets and maps belong to their authors. Links and credit always go to them.
