Datenschutz

[Ben: this is a factual summary of how the site works, not a finished legal text. Have it reviewed or generated with your usual legal template before launch.]

What this site does

• No cookies. Fonts and scripts are self-hosted.
• No visitor tracking or analytics.
• Site search runs entirely in your browser from files on this server; search terms are not sent anywhere.
• Theme choice (Midnight/Daylight) is stored in your browser's local storage, never sent anywhere.
• YouTube videos load from youtube-nocookie.com only after you click play. Google then processes your IP address and usage data.
• Google Maps on the Atlas loads only after you click “Load map”. If you tick “always”, that choice is stored in local storage; reset it in the footer.
• Header photos and series stills are self-hosted after the build step (npm run photos); until then they load from Wikimedia Commons, Unsplash (images.unsplash.com) or YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com).
• Hosting: [hosting provider, server location, log retention].
• Newsletter: not active yet.
