TL;DR ·

This time the stadium parking lot works: placed with the Anarchy mod, filled with accessible and electric-vehicle spaces, and backed by roadside parking bans so drivers actually use it. Westfield adds its last homes before the forest, enlarges the farm and forestry areas, fixes a jam with a one-way roundabout and lane rules, and gives the colleges varsity sports.

What happens in this episode

Matches at the stadium drew 90 of 750 visitors, and people parked all along the roadsides. Episode 14’s parking lot never worked, so this one fixes it properly.

How it was built

A parking lot that works

A medium lot fits best. To overlay existing roads, the Anarchy mod has to be on. The key detail: a parking lot only works once you place parking spaces inside it. Accessible spaces go closest to the stadium, plus electric vehicle spots, regular spaces and a few trees. Not long after, the first car parked there.

No more roadside parking

With Traffic Manager, roadside parking around the stadium and in denser streets is banned, so drivers use the lot and the parking behind homes. People walked surprisingly long distances, much longer than in SimCity 4. One road accidentally ended up one-way the wrong way, which was quickly fixed.

The last homes before the forest

More people wanted to live in Westfield, so high-rises and a few low-rise streets went in, plus a fire station and an elementary school. This is the city’s last outpost: I won’t build closer to the forest. The next milestone is at 32,000.

Farms, forestry and a roundabout

The farm grows into the space between its fields, with a large grain silo, a small barn, a slaughterhouse and more water lines, but no further south. The forestry area gets room to grow. A jammed crossing gets my usual roundabout method: one-way road in the right direction, helper roads deleted, then lane connections so lanes only join and leave where they should, with lane changes allowed at a few spots. Without those, cars circle forever. The jam cleared.

Varsity sports

The colleges had no varsity sports, so a sports facility inside the campus area and another arena went in, with track and field and basketball, plus a bigger stadium parking lot. Cheerleading and coaching budgets followed, and attractiveness rose.

FAQ

Why does nobody use my parking lot in Cities: Skylines?

A parking-lot asset only works when it has actual parking spaces placed inside it. Then ban roadside parking nearby so drivers have a reason to use it.

How do you build a roundabout with Traffic Manager?

Draw it with a one-way road in the right direction, remove the helper roads, then set lane connections so each entry lane only joins and each exit lane only leaves where it should. Allow lane changes at a few spots, or cars circle forever.

What does varsity sports do for a college?

A sports facility inside the campus area enables varsity sports, which raises the college's attractiveness and brings more students.
