A maintenance episode on the way to 32,000: dead citizens waiting for pickup lead to more deathcare buildings, a garbage spot behind a walkway gets a proper road so trucks can reach it, a new neighbourhood with eco shops and a hostel grows (once its forgotten water pipes are laid), trees soften noise, and the Lilac College of Liberal Arts reaches 'recognized'.
What happens in this episode
There’s no big plan this time, just pushing toward 32,000 citizens for the next milestone. Since last time, Mill Square has its tech park, the traffic jam is gone thanks to a big roundabout, the farm grew, and the extra ore makes glass possible, so the lemonade factory can finally produce and bring in more income. A secondary geothermal heating plant and another tree lot were added too.
How it was built
Deathcare
Scrolling through the city showed dead citizens waiting for pickup. The crematorium was operating normally with plenty of capacity, so the problem was distance. More deathcare buildings went in around the city. Childcare and eldercare got a check too. One eldercare building looked nice but was useless where it was. Income kept fluctuating, sometimes a big plus and sometimes a big minus.
A garbage puzzle
One garbage spot never got collected. The building was only reachable by a little walkway. A proper road (placed with Anarchy, with some existing buildings saved) fixed it, and the trash was picked up soon after.
A new neighbourhood
Residential demand was huge, so a new neighbourhood went in. I’d forgotten its water pipes, which happens. Once connected, it filled quickly: an eco centre, a buy-it-all shop and an ecostel hostel. Leafy trees soften the noise. I’m more of a city-building guy than a landscaping guy. A few homes didn’t level up because of an education issue.
A recognised college
The Lilac College of Liberal Arts reached “recognized”, unlocking the arts fountain, cafeteria, gymnasium and outdoor study. The missing gymnasium went in, and literature research and academic staff got more funding. 32,000 wasn’t any closer by the end, but the city was in better shape.

FAQ
Why are dead citizens not picked up in Cities: Skylines?
Usually the deathcare buildings are too far away or too few. The crematorium had plenty of capacity, so more deathcare buildings closer to the homes fixed it.
Why does garbage pile up at one building?
Check whether trucks can actually reach it. In Westfield a building only reached by a walkway never got pickups until a proper road connected it.
What does a recognised college unlock?
For the liberal arts college: an arts fountain, a cafeteria, a gymnasium and an outdoor study area.
