Following a viewer's suggestion, Springvalley gets Butler Park: a long riverside park with a big main gate, piers, gazebos on a small cliff, oak trees on the paths and the Forest Brush mod. It becomes the main park. Then the first public transport: a biofuel bus depot (quieter, cleaner, pricier) with clockwise and counter-clockwise college lines and ten buses each, plus schools, saunas and a stock exchange.
What happens in this episode
The new interchange from episode 8 gave the east side its own way in, which was badly needed as the city grows and the first high-rises appear. A viewer suggested a park by the river, and I liked the idea. The second goal: the first public transport. The long commercial strip may cause traffic later, so it might need more homes mixed in.
How it was built
Butler Park
Brook Street goes, and Butler Park follows the riverbank so people can walk or cycle along the water into town. Parks need either the big main gate, which includes a parking lot, or the small one. This park is big, so it gets the big gate, with side gates around it. A path along the river gets the first piers, two gazebos sit on a small cliff, and there are plazas, restrooms at each entrance, info booths and a café. Quay walls will come later.
A tip I learned from another Cities: Skylines creator: you can replace the trees on paths and roads by picking a tree and clicking. Oaks look much nicer than the defaults. Fences go where the park meets roads, and the Forest Brush mod fills in trees.
The main park
The park only needed the nearby homes to fill up for power. Entry costs 13, it was profitable right away, and it’s now Springvalley’s main park, with fireworks allowed. Park coverage along the shore is good.
Biofuel buses
A road maintenance depot and a biofuel bus depot went in. Biofuel costs more, but the buses are much quieter, which lowers noise downtown. The first lines are a clockwise and a counter-clockwise college line. Stops aren’t on every block, because citizens walk quite far. Crowds formed straight away, so each line got ten buses with a higher budget.
Schools and more
Climbing frames in the parks, a high school on the college campus placed with Move It, a library, elder care, health centres, saunas, police and a water tower. A stock exchange went in as the first landmark, and other big landmarks wait until the city is bigger.

FAQ
Why choose the biofuel bus depot?
It costs more, but biofuel buses are much quieter, which lowers noise in the city centre.
Can you change the trees along roads and paths?
Yes — pick a tree and click on the road or path to replace its trees. I swapped the defaults for oaks along the river.
What does a main park do?
Marking a park as the city's main park makes it the place visitors go first, which helps tourism.
