TL;DR ·

A decoration and fix-up episode. The new crop farm gets trees and a full patch of wheat fields, and new water towers fix a supply gap. Sherry District gets narrow alleys, a school, police, a post office and other services, and starts to look like a miniature downtown. A purely cargo train station with a long detour connects the industry, keeping junctions well apart. Then, after some terraforming, Springvalley gets a small fishing industry with three fish species, boat routes and a fish market, and a highway connection is rebuilt.

What happens in this episode

This episode is mostly decoration and quick fixes, plus some planning. The farm from Episode 52 looks rough and ugly, so that’s first. I also fix the low cave.

How it was built

The farm

Trees, extra fields and a road into the middle let me fill a full patch of wheat fields. It’s a big, efficient crop farm with no animals: just fields, crops and fruit trees. A supply gap leads to new water towers further away, with pipes under the roads.

Sherry District

Sherry District gets one of the narrowest two-lane alleys, placed carefully so almost nothing is demolished. Coverage was thin, so it gets:

  • a doctor, police and fire department;
  • a school, plus a bigger one across the road, because this district should grow into something beautiful;
  • post offices, which I hadn’t checked in a while.

Buildings start upgrading right away, and it looks like a miniature downtown. A zoo will have to wait.

A cargo station with a detour

The industry is now fully connected to rail with a cargo-only train station and a long detour, so junctions stay well apart. Give your trains enough nodes between intersections. I’m curious how CS2 handles the outgoing connection issues that needed mods here.

Fishing at last

Fishing needs a lot of terraforming. I let the river settle so the turbulence calms down before building. The resource view shows shellfish, anchovies and salmon, so I go with all three. I didn’t know the game shows fish moving. Efficiency is low at first: 6% loaded, then 3%. A fish market, a small warehouse and some housing nearby follow, with power lines for now. In CS2 they’ll be different anyway.

Highway fix

The highway connection is rebuilt to look like the others: a two-lane road with sound barriers. A sneaky road up the hill should look grown over time, so it’ll get decoration next episode.

FAQ

How do you set up a fishing industry in Cities Skylines?

Find the fish species in the resource view, build a fishing harbour on suitable shoreline and set boat routes to the fish areas. Add a fish factory or market and a warehouse.

Do fish move in Cities Skylines?

Yes, the fish areas shift over time, so routes that worked at first can lose efficiency. Watch the resource view and adjust.

Why does the river change after terraforming?

Landscaping near water creates turbulence. Let the river settle for a while before building on the new shore.
